Mieke Boynton and Matt Palmer are award-winning photographers and former qualified teachers & lecturers. By understanding your photography goals and learning needs, we aim to provide a fantastic learning experience.

Matt Palmer is a former lecturer in Photography at Tasmania TAFE and held a Training and Assessment Cert IV as well as other relevant licenses. Passionate about photography, Matt explores the 'why' not just the 'what' when it comes to taking dramatic and exciting photographs.
Mieke is a former teacher and spent 2019-2021 running hugely successful online workshops during Covid-19 for eager photographers. She also offers one-on-one mentoring/tutorial sessions. Mieke is able to tailor information to each learner, so her workshops and tutorials are suitable for beginners through to experienced photographers.
Matt and Mieke are regular presenters to camera clubs, tertiary institutions and at photographic conferences and events.

Whether you are a beginner or an experienced photographer, Mieke and Matt can help you find the answers to your questions, and advise you of techniques and tools to improve your photography. Learning directly and using your own work and examples, we can help fast-track your learning and creative development no matter what your photography goals.
Speaking in real-time over Zoom, a web-based software application that allows us to see each other, we can also share our computer screens and talk through any processing suggestions, share websites that can assist you, as well as recording our tutorial so that you can re-view it later if you wish!
To ensure that our time is well-spent, we'll ask you to send 10-15 recent photos, and any links to where we can see more of your images online. We'll then schedule a time to discuss the photos and any questions you may have.
Both Mieke and Matt provide 1-hour one-on-one tuition / mentoring sessions. Learning directly from experienced award-winning photographers will fast-track your photography and help you identify areas for improvement as well as provide the support and knowledge to continue your creative development no matter what your photography goals. The sessions are $150 for one hour, which includes our preparation time sourcing resources and preparing feedback on your images.
Mieke and Matt have their own areas of specialisation and strengths which you can see below. Depending on what you need, either one of them can support you, or you can choose your instructor. Both Mieke and Matt are extremely experienced in providing constructive critique and deconstruction of photographic images are often approached to judge photography competitions around the world.
Mieke
Mieke can advise you of techniques and tools to help you improve your photography, or suggest camera techniques to avoid certain issues, or help you with your processing or printing problems. Topics such as aerial photography and building a social media presence are also quite popular.
Mieke can explain the APS and FIAP Honours/Distinctions process and she can also help you prepare your photos for competitions (and suggest appropriate competitions to enter).

Matt
With such a broad photographic experience ranging from weddings, live music, sports and of course landscape photography Matt can help you pass any roadblocks in your photography journey.
Matt can help you start editing in Adobe Lightroom, use on-camera and off-camera flash, live music photography, location scouting for photography, consultation on your photography business, branding, website and products, developing personal projects, entering photography awards, mentoring in photography critique and judging, as well as providing critique on your folio.
