Who we are

Alpine Light is a photographic art gallery in Bright, Victoria, Australia. Alpine Light is owned and operated by photographers Mieke Boynton and Matt Palmer. You can visit in-person at 102A Gavan Street, Bright. We are also available online at https://alpinelight.com.au

Why do we collect, hold, use and disclose personal information?

The main reason we would collect, hold, use or disclose personal information is so that we can provide you with products and services. This may include:

  • Responding to enquiries about products;
  • Providing you with a purchased product or service; and/or
  • Using your information to ensure you receive a purchased product or service.

Alpine Light is bound by The Privacy Act 1988 and will protect your personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles. These principles govern how we can secure, utilise and hold your personal information.

Alpine Light generally does not capture any personal information, except where a visitor chooses to directly interact with us via forms or ordering a product, or for analytics purposes.

Form Submissions

When visitors fill out any of our contact or enquiry forms, the information provided is sent to the gallery@alpinelight.com.au email address.

Financial Information

When purchasing a product, your financial details are used to process the payment through our payment portals. Any financial information is encrypted and held by dedicated payment processing portals as chosen by the purchaser. This information is not held by Alpine Light Gallery at any time. If a purchaser wishes to use a service such as Afterpay, your order details will be shared with that that provider for the purposes of completing your order.

Advertising, Analytics and Cookies

Alpine Light Gallery uses third-party services to assist with understanding its audience and how to better connect visitors with the content they want.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics as a service to track how many visitors access our website, what content visitors are interested in, and which countries/regions these visitors access the website from. Google Analytics uses cookies and other identifiers which you can read about at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites

Australian websites are not required to have a pop-up asking for your consent to use cookies. However, it is important that visitors generally understand their rights and the use of such information online. The link above provides information on how to opt-out of such tracking by Google services.

Emails and Newsletters

We use Mailchimp as a service to communicate with visitors that have opted-in to our newsletter, or may benefit from other automated contact. This may also include situational emails such as following up on orders, providing information to workshop participants, and other information. Our emails contain an opt-out link which can be used to unsubscribe to any emails through this platform. If you have any concerns you can also email us at gallery@alpinelight.com.au

Our online commerce plugin Woocommerce will also use purchaser email addresses to provide receipts of purchase and other relevant order information.

Any emails sent to Alpine Light Gallery may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

Facebook

In future, we may further integrate Alpine Light Gallery with Facebook to help enable people to find us or find out more about products they are interested in. This may include Conversion Tracking Pixels, cookies and other tools identified at https://www.facebook.com/about/privacy/. These tools may be used to help us track effectiveness of Facebook advertising, or direct advertising to users of Facebook that may be most interested in our products.

Cookies

The services outlined above may use cookies to operate on our website. Cookies are small files of data that are created when visiting most websites. This may include sessional cookies – cookies that expire immediately after closing the browser – and persistent cookies which store information on your hard drive for use in subsequent visits or other interactions.

Alpine Light Gallery uses website security plugins that create cookies or record information such as IP Addresses to aid in the security of the website. This would primarily be used to block malicious action, for example if an IP Address were actively trying to hack our website login. These cookies may also be used to assist you in accessing accounts or orders in future.

How long we retain your data

We will securely retain held data for so long as it helps us to provide a product, service, or requested information to you. Data will also be kept in compliance with Australian tax and consumer laws, such as historical order information for taxation reporting.
